NOAA: La Nina Is Strengthening

La Nina strengthened during the past month. The current La Nina is predicted to persist through the end of the 2017-2018 winter season. Based on the latest indicators, this La Nina will peak at weak-to-moderate strength. La Nina affects temperature and precipitation across the United States. The attached composites illustrate the predominate jet stream patterns during the La Nina and the general weather they produce during the fall and winter. Each slide also provides a description of the weather conditions commonly observed across north central and northeast Colorado during La Nina. Note, the first slide provides an visual explanation of the Polar Jet stream and the weather it is capable of producing.
