NOAA: Winter Weather Advisory Issued For CA | Up To 10″ of Snow Above 7,000ft On Wednesday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for California. It is in effect from 1:00am Wednesday Morning – 1:00pm Wednesday Afternoon. This system is expected to be short lived, but it will deliver some much needed precipitation.

Up To 10" of Snow Above 7,000ft On Wednesday In California. 

* Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches, with localized amounts up to 8 inches, 
are expected. Snow amounts of up to 10 inches are expected above 7000 feet.

This short spirt of precipitation is expected to arrive with a cold strong front, which will allow for snow to fall as low as 1,500ft.

Mammoth is only forecast to see 1-3″ of snow from this storm.

It hasn’t snowed in California since December 3rd.

After this quick storms blows through, California is back to nothing but sunshine through at least Christmas Day.

“Then, snow begins to fall over Tuesday night bringing rapid accumulations along and just ahead of a strong cold front. While totals will not likely be excessive, the snowfall rates will be quite rapid. Expect to need extra time for your Wednesday morning commute due to degrading road conditions and lower visibility.” – NOAA Reno, NV yesterday
