In just 10 days, Trollhaugen Recreation Area, Wisconsin, will kick off the 2024-25 winter season with its annual Fall Open Haugen Weekend.
The three-day event will kick off on October 4 with the resortโs annual Ski and Snowboard โSale and Swap.โ The Sale and Swap will be on from October 4-6 and gear for sale can be dropped off from Wednesday, October 2, to Friday, October 4. Full details can be found on the resortโs social media account at Trollhaugen Ski/Board Swap Gear Dropoff. The highlight of the three-day weekend is the Rail Jam on Sunday, October 6.
Registration for the Trollhaugen Rail Jam opened last Friday, September 20. The Rail Jam will be held on a small patch of snow harvested from last seasonโs snowโa practice known as snow farming. Trollhaugen has been snow farming for its annual RailJam for several years and has perfected its technique of covering last seasonโs snow in hay and tarp and preserving it for the following season.
The event will consist of four 45-minute jam sessions, with a maximum 30 person capacity. There are slots every hour, at 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. An intermediate to advanced terrain park skill level is recommended. You can secure your spot ahead of time online for $20 per person. Registration on the day will only be available if there are slots left. Checkin will be on Tomtebakken from 11:30 a.m. โ 2:00 p.m. Please note that there is only one time slot per person. Multiple registrations for the same person will result in refunds.
Trollhaugen is a medium-sized resort about 50 minutes north of twin cities Minneapolis and St. Paul in Minnesota in the town of Dresser, Wisconsin. The area consists of 80 acres of skiable terrain, and the longest run at Trollhaugen is 2,500 feet.
