Bariloche, Argentina Backcountry Report + Photo Tour: “Little Alaska” Got out to Alaskita in the Bariloche, Argentina backcountry yesterday (Friday) with my good buddy Rylan. Sunny skies, light to moderate wind, spectacular views, good snow up high, punchy snow down low. Super fun to be out there with a buddy from back home at Squaw. The skiing has been powdery, cold, and good here since Wednesday. This week’s […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | September 3, 2016 1 Comment
Bariloche, Argentina Backcountry Conditions Report: Spines Are Good… I went for a solo stroll in the backcountry of Bariloche, Argentina today. I headed out to my favorite zone: Alaskita (little Alaska). I had the entire 2,000-foot deep valley to myself. There was no wind, no noise, no sound. The day was like one long meditation. I didn’t know I needed that, but I did. It’s amazing […] Miles Clark | September 1, 2016 0 Comments

Go To Argentina & Get 63% More Money Free Right Now | 1 USD = 15 Black Market Pesos… The official exchange rate right now is 1 US Dollar = 9.18 Argentine Pesos. This is a good exchange considering only 6 years ago the exchange was 1 USD = 3.5 Argentine Pesos. So, no matter what, you’re richer in Argentina than you are in the USA. Now, you have to consider that Argentina’s black market (they call it the blue market) exchange rate is 1 USD = 15 Argentine Pesos. 15 pesos! That’s insane. 2014 Bariloche, Argentina Season Recap & Highlights: Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina had a strong season in 2014. Of the 8 weeks I skied in Bariloche this summer, 4 of them were powder. It’s true, we had a low snowpack this year and the lower mountain never had any snow. The upper mountain is where all the good terrain lives and up there, we had plenty of snow this southern winter. I arrived on the last days of July, 2014 to a violent, 4-day storm that kept the mountain closed for 5 days. When the mountain finally opened on August 3rd, there was 6 feet of new snow up high and […] Miles Clark | October 16, 2014 3 Comments
VIDEO: Backcountry Backflips in Big Patagonia Terrain I think it’s safe to say we just had the best week of the season here at Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina. On Monday, September 7th, the storm came in strong enough to close the mountain entirely. It was cold and windy storm that snowed to the bottom of the mountain. Spots in La Laguna had over 5 feet of snow laying around. I’d say that in general, the upper mountain got about 2 feet of quality snow. Tuesday was good in bounds. […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | September 15, 2014 0 Comments
You’re Making Money in Argentina Without Even Knowing It | Black Market Dollar Soars to 13.2 Pesos: Argentina just defaulted on their international loans a couple of weeks back. They defaulted on tens of billions of dollars. This is the second time they’ve done so since 2001. In 2001, the value of a peso essentially hit zero. This year, they’re still hanging in there somehow. Even so, investors expect the peso to lose 11% of it’s value against the dollar in the next 90 days. The good news for non-Argentines is that the peso is losing value faster than people can change their prices. Especially ski resorts. Lift ticket prices were fixed in the fall. Yet, the value of the dollar continues to rise against the peso. The […] SnowBrains | August 19, 2014 2 Comments
Bariloche, Argentina Backcountry Report: Wind-Swept Beauty Bariloche had a big, sunny wind storm yesterday. It close the ski resort down for most the day. It buffed things out a bit and definitely pressed the snow down. I didn’t see any snow today that wasn’t wind affected in some way. I headed back out to Alaskita today. On the ski out there, I ran into the SGT crew. SGT is a ski/snowboard camp here in Bariloche that guides skiers and riders both inbounds and out. Today, they did a sweet tour. Alasita Run = Short Spines, Big Convex Face, to Fingers & Chutes. I made it to the top of Alaskita in about an hour after an uneventful ski and skin. The views today were precisoa. Temperatures were on the warm […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | August 13, 2014 2 Comments
