150 flyers from around the world took advantage of the exceptional conditions created by Europe’s heatwave to set a record for the number of paragliders to land on the summit of Mont Blanc.

The exceptional heatwave and absence of wind allowed the paragliders to take off from near Chamonix, 6,500-feet below the peak, and rise up on the thermals to the almost 16,000-foot Haute Savoie-France summit of western Europe’s highest peak.ย The temperature on the peak was 50ยบF.

Pilots came from all over the world, especially from the United States, France, Germany, and Switzerland.
