Last night, the night sky over the mountains of North America and Europe was dazzling as the Northern Lights danced overhead in brilliant shades of green and purple. Scientists predicted it would be the most spectacular show in nearly 20 years, and they weren’t wrong.ย While the Northern Lights are typically best viewed in northern regions like Alaska, Canada, and Greenland, the solar maximum’s auroral oval expansion will make the celestial phenomenon visible in various parts of the contiguous United States and Europe.

North American skywatchers, particularly in northern states and provinces, were treated to a spectacular display of dancing lights in shades of green, pink, and purple. The last time such intense aurora activity was observed was during the solar maximum of 2003-2004.
