Fonna Glacier Ski Resort in Norway will open for teams this week from Wednesday, May 1. Mountain operation crews have been busy clearing the ski area’s access roads and grooming runs to be ready for opening on Wednesday.

Before giving access to the many alpine and freestyle teams that will descend on the glacier resort for on-snow summer training, pro-skier Anders Backe held an incredible photo session at the glacier resort. Backe is a freeskier who has competed at the X-Games and has appeared in several ski movies, including Supervention and Supervention 2.

Fonna Glacier Ski Resort is located in Norway’s captivating Hardangerfjord region at an elevation of 4,757 feet (1,450 meters) on the  Folgefonna Glacier. The resort offers three miles (5km) of slopes across four different runs with 820 feet (250 meters) of vertical. A day pass at Fonna is NOK 405 (USD 38) and a season pass is NOK 4,990 (USD 453). The resort opens from May 1 for teams and from May 17 for the public. Lifts will be operating from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. From June 24 lift hours will be extended from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
