Thanks to plummeting temperatures, Copper Mountain in Colorado seized the opportunity to begin its snowmaking operations for the upcoming 2024-25 winter season. The resort’s snowmaking crew initiated the process early Monday morning, focusing on building a solid base for the upper mountain’s alpine race training facilities.

The snowmaking efforts mark a crucial step in Copper’s winter preparations, with the resort aiming to capitalize on every available window of cold weather in the coming weeks. This early start is particularly significant for the U.S. Ski Team and other professional athletes who rely on Copper’s high-altitude terrain for pre-season training.
Simultaneously, progress continues on the resort’s infrastructure upgrades. Over the weekend, new towers for the Timberline Express Chairlift were successfully installed. This project, a collaboration with Leitner Poma, will replace the existing 4-person lift with a high-speed 6-pack, enhancing the mountain’s uphill capacity and guest experience.
The resort has confirmed its official opening date for the 2024-25 winter season as November 8.
