Yesterday’s 2024 closing day continued this tradition with a blend of skiing, costumes, and community spirit that is hard to find anywhere else. Closing day at Alta is more than just the final day of ski operations; it’s a celebration of the season. Skiers often dress up in costumes, adding a playful and festive atmosphere to the slopes. This tradition is a beloved part of the closing day experience, where the community comes together to mark the end of another great season. The event includes tailgating in the parking lots, where skiers share food and stories from the season.
The 2023-24 ski season at Alta has been another for the books. While not as spectacular as last season’s record-breaking snow season, Alta saw 621″ of snow, significantly more than its average of 500″, and finished with a 149″ base, 113% of the average in 2023/24.
