Despite a severe lack of snow, and a opening date that kept being pushed back, Portillo is skiing great right now. Two weeks ago Portillo saw almost 6.5 feet, allowing the resort to open for the first time all season. Since then snow has been scarce, but what is left is holding up well. The groomers are fast, and certain spots off trail are holding nice chalky wind buff. While some more snow would be ideal, what we got is skiing pretty good none the less.

The past three days saw cloudy and cold weather, with flat light and wind. The groomers were ripping and skiing super fast. The wind made for some nice wind buff in some spots, nice and chalky. Today the sun finally made an appearance and made everything that much more fun. Garganta is skiing great, with nice edgable wind buff all the way down. Aside from that everything off Roca Jack and Condor lifts is also nice and smooth, its like a off trail groomer as Andrew Rumph puts it. Aside from off trail, the groomers off Plateau and Juncallo are fast and firm with plenty of rollers to have fun on. While some more snow would be ideal, this place has so much potential, we have to work with what we got. And despite the lack of snow, what we got right now is ripping.
