Powder Mountain celebrated a major milestone on Tuesday, December 31, with the opening of the Lightning Ridge lift, the resortโ€™s first new lift in over a decade. The debut was perfectly timed with 34 inches of fresh snow over the past week, setting the stage for eager skiers and riders to explore the liftโ€™s expert-only terrain.ย

The Lightning Ridge lift is a Skytrac fixed-grip quad, designed to provide seamless access to some of Powder Mountainโ€™s most technical and advanced terrain. It also establishes a vital new connection between the Sundown base area and the rest of the resort, enhancing overall accessibility for Powder Mountain guests.

This addition is part of a significant lift upgrade initiative at Powder Mountain. Lightning Ridge is one of three new public lifts this season, joining Timberline and Paradise, both of which were replaced during the summer. Together, these upgrades mark a transformative chapter for the resort, catering to both adventurous skiers and those seeking easier navigation across its vast terrain.

Tuesday’s opening captured the excitement of the Powder Mountain community. Skiers and snowboarders were eager to take advantage of the deep powder and the promise of new runs, making Lightning Ridge an instant favorite. ‘Pow Mow’ couldn’t have capped off 2024 any better.ย
