Squaw is 100% open for the holidays for the first time in a long ass time.
Silverado is open for the first time since 2013.
Lots of wintery, chalky snow all around the resort.
Stand out runs in Chute 75 and North Bowl.
Blue skies most of the day with some clouds up high today.
Squaw Valley has recieved 105-188″ of snowfall this season, which is about 135% of average to date.
Squaw is reporting a 78″ snowpack.
They had all silverado gates open on Thursday, just not right off the bat. Most holiday stretches the Palisades are closed.
Squaw’s slightly deceptive marketing hype got you.
They are NOT 100% open. They have 100% of LIFTS open.
But only 87 of 170 trails are open -slightly over half.
Granted lots of good stuff like Chute 75, Funnel, and Silvy are skiing well.
Palisades (they count these as trails !), half of Kt-22, and half of Silverado
are closed.
Palisades / Mainline etc. are not open on regular weekends when there are less people than are here right now. Why should they be open now? Same with Dead Tree or Rock Garden. While fun terrain, it is pointless to open it right now just to have Joey Yahoo get in over his head cause he wants to ski Chimney and beaters, gets hurt or deaded.
