Traditionally the first resort to open in the state, Wild Mountain, MN can this week add a new feather to their cap – the first resort to open in North America for the 20/21 season.
If your money was on A-Basin, or Loveland in Colorado, then unfortunately you’re out of luck.ย Wild Mountain started their lift (tow rope) turning on Monday thanks to recent wintry weather. They began making snow on Sunday and opened the following evening.
The last couple of years have seen them open on 29th October in 2019, and 21st October in 2018.ย The earliest the resort has ever opened is October 9th.
Wild Mountain is a ski and snowboard area in Amador Township, Chisago County, near Taylors Falls, Minnesota. It features 26 runs, including four terrain parks, which include jumps, rails, boxes, quarter-pipes, and half-pipes, which are both man-made and natural. During the summer months of June, July, and August, a water park, an alpine slide, and a go-kart track become operational. The site is also the first ski and snowboard resort in the Midwest to open every year, which is usually broadcast on the local news networks.
