Lynn Ban, a renowned jewelry designer and reality TV personality, tragically passed away on Monday, January 20, following complications from a skiing accident she suffered over the holidays. The incident occurred on Christmas Eve in Aspen, Colorado, when Ban caught a ski tip, fell face-first, and sustained a brain injury that ultimately proved fatal. Her son Sebastian shared the news of her death on social media, calling her โ€œthe funniest and coolest momโ€ he could ask for.

Initially, the accident seemed minor, as Ban was able to ski down the slope and was cleared by ski patrol after reporting a headache. Erring on the side of caution, she decided to go to the hospital for a precautionary CAT scan, where doctors discovered a brain bleed. Ban was airlifted to a trauma center and underwent emergency brain surgery. While she initially survived and shared her gratitude in a reflective Instagram post, complications from the injury led to her untimely death weeks later.

In her post, Ban described how a beautiful holiday in Aspen took a devastating turn. She recounted losing her balance, falling, and feeling only mild discomfort at first. Despite being cleared by ski patrol, a paramedic suggested a hospital visit, which ultimately revealed the life-threatening injury. She expressed gratitude for the medical team and the support of her family, crediting her decision to seek further medical attention as the reason she was initially able to survive.

Born in Singapore and based in New York City, Lynn Ban was known for her bold and cutting-edge jewelry designs, worn by stars such as Rihanna, Beyoncรฉ, and Lady Gaga. She gained wider fame in 2023 as a cast member of Netflixโ€™s โ€œBling Empire: New York.โ€ Her vibrant personality, extensive vintage fashion collection, and influential social media presence made her a beloved figure in the fashion and entertainment industries.

Banโ€™s accident is a stark reminder that even benign-looking head injuries can be fatal. Her passing adds to a list of tragic skiing incidents that resulted in fatal head trauma, including those of Sonny Bono in 1998, Natasha Richardson in 2009, and Gaspard Ulliel in 2022โ€“almost three years ago to the day.

Tributes have poured in from around the world, with fans and industry peers honoring Banโ€™s creativity, resilience, and zest for life. She leaves behind a legacy of artistic brilliance and a reminder to treasure lifeโ€™s fleeting moments.
