Red Dog @ Squaw Valley to OPEN Tomorrow!

Squaw Valley just announced that they will be opening the Red Dog chair tomorrow morning.

This will be a major improvement at Squaw as only one day of exclusively skiing Gold Coast is enough to satisfy anyone’s Gold Coast lust for the season.

The long, windy, early season run off Red Dog is already looking good. A decent amount of man-made snow covers its entirety and the forecast is calling for a foot of new snow above 7,000 feet tomorrow.

With Red Dog open we’ll actually have a bit of steepness to ride along with a touch of length.  Red Dog allows access to 1,239-vertical-feet as opposed to Gold Coast’s 563-vertical-feet.  With the addition of Red Dog we’ll have Searchlight (lower half of Exhibition), Gold Coast, and Red Dog.

Once Red Dog opens up, it shouldn’t be too long before the 3.2-mile-long Mountain Run to open up.  

Things are about to start to get interesting at Squaw Valley USA.
