We could have just gone to Japan. That line undoubtedly ran through each of our minds as we dealt with complicated Visas, disgruntled border security, questionable ham sandwiches, and white-knuckle driving through the Russian roadways. Just a few whispers had driven us there—tales of a place that combined the snowfall and terrain of Japan, Jackson Hole, and British-Columbia: the Caucasus Range. With little more than a few casual suggestions and some Google Earth research, we were off. Unsure of what we would find, Mother Russia opened her arms to us.
