The competition, dreamed up by Red Bull athlete Bobby Brown, will run from March 29th – 30th
Red Bull and freeskiing pioneer Bobby Brown are proud to announce the second edition of Red Bull Cascade, an elite freestyle ski competition that melds gravity-defying jumps and tricks with freeride-inspired lines. The event will gather the worldโs top skiers from a variety of disciplines at Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah for a tournament-style ski-off that will take place on March 29th and 30th. In whatโs sure to be a crowd-pleasing twist, the bracket format will pit teams of three skiers against each other to determine the best trio on the mountain.
โThe decision to adapt the event into a team-style competition really stemmed from seeing the camaraderie and collaboration that occurred amongst all the athletes last year, and at the end of the day, that is what Red Bull Cascade is all about.โ
– event mastermind Bobby Brown
Red Bull Cascade is an evolution of the classic ski competition format. This year, the event will feature teams of three male and female competitors, promoting collaboration and imagination while highlighting the most stylish, hardest-charging skiers in the world. Athletes who excel in the park will go head-to-head with big-mountain legends, with legacies that range from Olympians to hometown heroes.
This event will feature the worldโs best skiers in their natural habitat, trying to one-up each other over the course of an action-packed weekend.
โWe are so excited to be hosting Red Bull Cascade this year and have been working closely with Bobby and Red Bull to build a course that encapsulates the diverse talent of this yearโs competitors.”
– Tyler Sites, terrain park manager at Solitude Mountain Resort
The athletes will compete on a course designed by Bobby Brown and brought to hucking-heaven life by a team of renowned park builders, led by Charles Beckinsale. Both man-made and natural elements will be in abundance on Solitudeโs famed slopes, encouraging competitors to reach deep into their bag of tricks to put together the sendiest runs they can.
Each run will be judged on a points system based on Creativity, Speed, Choice of Line, Difficulty, and Energy (Style/Flair). The goal is to rack up the most points on the โCSCDEโ system. The top-scoring trio will walk away as champions of Red Bull Cascade.
The Red Bull Cascade competition schedule is as follows:
- Friday, March 29: All teams will complete top-to-bottom runs in order to determine Finals Day seeding. Athlete drop order will be at random.
- Saturday, March 30:The top men and women will compete to accumulate the most points per team in an elimination finals showdown. Winners will move on in the bracket while losers are knocked out.
