A social media influencer known for sharing images of herself on cliff edges and mountaintops has fallen to her death while taking a selfie at the edge of a waterfall.
Sofia Cheung, 32, slipped and died at the tourist spot in Hong Kong at the weekend.
She was with a group of three friends at Ha Pak Lai on Saturday. While taking photos at the waterfall at Tsing Dai stream, she slipped and lost her footing, plummeting into the five-meter deep pool below.
Her friends called the emergency services, and she was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The woman’s Instagram page lists hiking, kayaking, exploring, outdoor activities, and photography as her main passions. Many of her pictures show her standing over perilous drops.
Her bio says: “Life should be fun not dumb.”
