A video showing a woman plunging into the ocean from a slide on a yacht and having a close encounter with a shark has gone viral.
Iso Machado, from Miami, Florida was celebrating her birthday on a friend’s boat last Friday in the Bahamas when she decided to use the slide attached to plunge into the crystal blue waters. As she descended down, a crew member on the deck below got the attention of her son’s friend, Kevan Sarota 22, who was filming and pointed him in the direction of a dark figure in the water. The outline of a huge shark believed to be a nurse shark then appears only a few feet away from the swimming birthday girl who maintains her calm as her son Anthony yells at her not to freak out.
The incredible footage has since garnered an impressive 3.4 million views on Instagram.
Kevan told Jam Press~ “As she was going down one of the crew members yelled and pointed from the deck below which caught all of our attention.” “As the shark approached we couldn’t figure out what type it was.” The group who had been drinking and celebrating beforehand were initially fearful, Kevan said~ “We were worried and immediately jumped in to make sure Iso was okay when it changed directions but she remained calm and it bumped her then continued on its way.”
Kevan said that they believe that the creature was a Nurse shark and that while some might of been fearful, Iso was ecstatic about the moment they had shared. “She was actually really happy and felt lucky to see one so close.”
