With the announcement of the US Boarder Cross Team yesterday, letโs take a closer look at the upcoming FIS World Cup Calendar for Cross Events. The season opener is only one week away for boarder cross, kicking off in Les Deux Alpes on October 29, 2022. The skiers follow suit the following weekend, November 5, 2022. The season will consist of 11 events for both Ski Cross and Boarder Cross.
What is cross? Cross is a timed race of four skiers or boarders at a time over a course featuring rollers, wutang jumps and berms. It is run with individual qualifying times in the first round to duell-format elimination rounds in the subsequent heats, with the best two advancing to the next round. While it may look like anything is allowed, there are strict rules and obstructing another rider is not allowed. A panel of judges will make a decision and can disqualify riders.
