Thanks to local businessย Dave Smith Motors, Silver Mountain, Idaho will be offering FREE skiing this weekend on May 5th.

From their social media:

We weren’t sure we were going to be skiing in May this year, but Dave Smith Motors has come through with a FREE ski day on Sunday, May 5! Chair 2 will be running until 3:30 p.m. and there will be live music by My Worst Enemy from 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Bring your skis or board and pick up your free lift ticket in the Gondola Village on May 5 thanks to Dave Smith Motors!

There will be live music, a barbecue, and an outside bar on the mountain top. Non-skiers can enjoy a free scenic gondola ride and listen to some great music in a beautiful outdoor setting at 5,700โ€™.

With its two peaks reaching only 6,297 ft and 6,205 ft, it is incredibly rare for the mountain to be open this late in the season. In fact, it is so rare that it may only occur once or twice in a decade (it did last season). With 327″ inches of snowfall this season, surpassing the 273โ€ณ of 2015/16 and 390โ€ณ of 16/17, the snow is still in prime condition for spring skiing and riding.

Silver Mountain Resort is located in the Bitterroot Mountains of North Idaho and is the only resort in the Inland Northwest still open. Free lift tickets can be picked up in person at the ticket window on Sunday. The gondola will upload at 8:15 a.m. and the last chair will be 3:30 p.m.
