Slovenian ski jumper Domen Prevc soared into the record books on Sunday, setting a new world record with a 254.5-meter (834.6-foot) jump at the season-ending World Cup event in Planica, Slovenia. Competing in front of a home crowd, the 24-year-old delivered a near-perfect flight that eclipsed the previous world record of 253.5 meters (831.4 feet), set by Austriaโ€™s Stefan Kraft in 2017. After landing, Prevc raised his arms and bowed to the cheering fans at the bottom of the hill.

โ€œIโ€™m still shaking right now,โ€ Prevc said, according to the Associated Press. โ€œI felt I could do anything after the takeoff and it was just perfect.โ€

The historic jump took place at Planicaโ€™s ski flying hill, a renowned venue known for producing some of the sportโ€™s longest distances. Prevcโ€™s feat capped off the final World Cup weekend of the season and delivered an unforgettable moment to fans in his home country.
