A snowboarder had a shocking last run of the day when he was cruising near Brighton Ski Resort, Utah. Loren Richardson was boarding in a group of six, which had left the gate at the top of Great Western chairlift. Richardson was going down a narrow pathway on his snowboard when he happened upon an older man brandishing a shotgun, threatening to “put holes” into him, if he traveled down that pathway again.

Apparently, Richardson had inadvertently gotten onto a private property and was clearly not the first person to do so, as the angry property owner had set up camp with a folding chair and a shotgun to prevent people from going on his property.

Richardson is visibly scared and scurries off the property as fast as he can, while the Utah resident follows him, shotgun in hand. | Image: Screenshot Instagram video

The conversation between Richardson and the unidentified Utah resident is certainly priceless, displaying unrivaled disdain at IKON pass holders.

Here is a short excerpt from the video:

Richardson: “Oh, I’m sorry..”

Utah resident: “It’s a private property, you f…”

Richardson: “I didn’t know that. I’m not from here..”

Utah resident: “What are you, an IKON user?”

While it certainly sounded more like he was asking if Richardson was a meth user, judging by the disgust in the property owner’s voice, Richardson profusely apologized while unstrapping his boots and walked away unscathed but rather shaken.

The property has a “Private Drive” sign facing the freeway which became visible when Richardson exited down the pathway. | Image: Screenshot Instagram video

Make sure you look for and observe any private property signs when skiing or riding in unfamiliar territory. Eagle eyed watchers will notice that there is a “Private Drive” sign as Richardson exits the path on foot, which the crew did not come across as they had dropped onto the path from above and not come in from the freeway. Mike Morrison, one of Richardson’s friends, explained, “We entered through a gate at the top of Brighton. We didn’t hike past his property. That sign is facing the freeway, not the backcountry.”

Stay safe out there, especially if you are one of those IKON “users.”
