A quick-hitting system will hit California from Thursday morning through Friday night, bringing 2-8″ to resorts in the region.
Snow levels will remain well below lake level throughout the system, starting at 5,000 feet and dropping below 3,500 feet at the tail-end of the snowfall.
Totals by Saturday morning at mid-mountains:
- Sierra Crest (Kirkwood, Palisades, Sugar Bowl): 4-7″ (up to 8″ at the summits)
- Northstar: 2-4″
- Mt Rose: 2-5″
- Heavenly: 4-8″
- Mammoth: 3-6″
Looking ahead, more action is expected on Sunday night or Monday. Models still strongly disagree about this storm, so pinning down specific totals this far out is impossible, but it will likely be another fast-moving, small storm, smaller than Thursday/Friday’s storm. Stay tuned for an updated forecast this weekend.
