A decent hit of snow arrives tonight for southern portions of the region, with lighter accumulations farther north, followed by very cold air and bitter wind chills persisting through midweek. Conditions should gradually moderate by late week, with occasional minor snow showers mixed in.

A renewed round of snowfall develops Sunday night with the most notable accumulations centered on southern and central areas. This wave will bring a window of moderate snowfall into late evening, with scattered lighter snow to the north. Snowfall remains generally light outside the higher totals south, but any moderate bursts will drop a quick few inches where they occur. Overnight, colder air pours in on steady northerly to northwesterly breezes, keeping conditions feeling quite raw.

Monday Nightโ€“Tuesday Lake Effect targets mainly western and northern pockets under brisk westerly flow. Most areas see only scattered snow showers, but spots favorably aligned with the flow could pick up additional light accumulation. Where skies do clear, overnight lows tumble toward or below zero, and wind chills will be dangerously cold. Daytime highs on Tuesday barely break the teens outside of a few southern valleys, with minus-sign readings at higher elevations.

Midweek and Beyond stays chilly, with wind chills dipping back toward or below zero in spots each night. Snow showers remain limited to weaker disturbances and occasional upslope bands, mostly confined to the higher terrain. By late week and into the weekend, gradual moderation takes hold, with highs edging upward into the 20s and potential 30s. Still, nights remain cold, and any mild breaks will be brief and tempered by occasional light snow.
