“3 FEET OF SNOW OVERNIGHT | SQUAW VALLEY ALPINE MEADOWS WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE DAY TO EXTREME AVALANCHE CONDITIONS” – Squaw Alpine today
Due to high avalanche danger, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows in Lake Tahoe, CA are closed today.
36″ of snow fell overnight last night, 46″ in the past 24 hours, and the current temperature in Squaw is 24F at 6,217′.
Squaw Valley personnel are currently turning people around at the Squaw Valley post office.
The storm that hit Tahoe last night was nuclear with both high winds and very high snowfall rates.
5ย Tahoe highways are currently closed and have been closed since yesterday.
