According to Tom Evans on El Cap Report, well known climber Quinn Brett, was seriously injured when she fell 100-feet on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, CA. The fall occurred on Wednesday, October 11th, 2017. At the time, she was attempting to climb the Nose in one day. She fell from the Boot Flake feature, hit the Texas Flake below, and then ended up in the boulders just below the Texas Flake.
A witness quickly alerted Yosemite Search and Rescue of the fall. Soon after, two rangers were flown by helicopter to the site of the accident and a ground team was flown to the top of El Cap incase high winds grounded the helicopter. Thankfully, Josie McKee was climbing with Quinn that day. After the fall occurred, she acted quickly and performed life saving actions that allowed for a quick extraction.
Quinn was successfully removed from the site of the fall and airlifted to the hospital. She is currently being treated for the serious injuries that she suffered from the fall. The cause of it hasn’t been revealed yet. Quinn will have to undergo a length recovery due to the spinal injuries that she suffered, which will result in a financial burden.
