Sunday River in Maine will open its slopes for a special Halloween ski day today, October 31. This event is exclusively available to New England Passholders, Ikon and Mountain Collective Passholders, and Ticket Pack holders.
In an announcement on its website, Sunday River credited the “extra treat for your Halloween” to the dedicated efforts of its snowmaking team, who’ve “really outdone themselves.”ย
The resort was also quick to note that “We’re not open for the season;ย we’re just skiing because that’s what we do.”
Lift service will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Locke Mountain Triple, with skiing confined to T2. In celebration of Halloween, all participants must wear costumes while riding the chairlift, adding a festive atmosphere to the day’s activities. The resort has indicated that special treats await those who embrace the holiday spirit.
Skiers are advised that early season conditions will be present, necessitating downloading and potentially requiring walking depending on trail conditions. The terrain will remain ungroomed, underscoring the importance of caution and control while navigating the slopes.
Limited services will be offered; Guest Services will be available in Barker and South Ridge, and the Barker Bar will provide a restricted menu. However, rentals and lessons will not be available during this special event.
