Bariloche, Argentina Conditions Report: Violently Bluebird Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina experienced an impeccable day today. No wind, warm temps, good snow, great times. Southern aspects are still holding chalky, powdery snow. North faces have fun sun cooked pow. In bounds skied great today in the sun. Nubes was skiing well, Del Bosque even had some huckable cliffs in the soft afternoon snow. Our crew climbed up to the spires in La Laguna and dropped off the back – “Tower Chute” – for a long run into the Van Titter valley. The snow was powdery, chalky, and damn fast. The views from the mountain were […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | August 20, 2015 0 Comments
Bariloche, Argentina Conditions Report: Today was the Day Today, was a spectacular day at Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina. It was our second splendiferous day in a week since last Monday was brilliant. The day started with 4-10″ of new snow on top of a crunchy/hard layer and dense fog up top. We feared the day would be a wash with great snow and no visibility. After hiking Nubes three times and getting some terrible visibility and some OK visibility, the sun finally popped and the Nubes chair opened up. We ripped two high speed laps on the Nubes chair that were absolutely amazing. Full speed, slashing turns, laughing, hitting […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | August 10, 2015 1 Comment
Bariloche, Argentina Conditions Report: 3-Feet of Fresh Snow & Literally No One Out Catedral ski resort is reporting 50cms (20″) in the past two days. We climbed up today and measured over 3-feet of new snow in spots. The snow came with big wind that was strong enough to shut the ski resort for most of the day today. This afternoon, they were able to get the lower mountain open but the mid and upper mountains remained closed. Yes, we as skiers and riders overuse the term “no one out”. But today, we really mean it. Since the mountain was shutdown, I hiked up to […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | August 2, 2015 2 Comments
Bariloche, Argentina Backcountry Report: “Alaskita” Powder on the LAST Day of the Season Yesterday was Catedral ski resort’s last day of the 2014 winter season. They will keep the Amancay gondola and Diente de Caballo chair open, but they will only allow beginners and sightseers to load. On Monday it snowed hard and added up here. The wind blew like crazy and closed the mountain at 1pm. We knew things in the backcountry were going to be smooth and fresh, but the heat was a concern. Our plan was to hit Zebra Chute, a northeast facing couloir in the nearby […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | October 1, 2014 1 Comment
