Friday Fun: A Ben & Jerry’s… Beer? The day has finally come. VT’s own Ben & Jerry’s and Colorado’s New Belgium Brewing Co. have teamed up to create an ice cream inspired brew – the “Salted Caramel Brownie” brown ale. The beer, which won’t hit shelves until fall, will be “laden with chocolaty, salted-caramel, vanilla goodness, while helping Protect Our Winters combat climate change,” according to the packaging. While a sixer of this may sound sickeningly sweet, there’s more to the story than ice cream beer. Both companies are “B-Corps” with strong histories of social activism, and Ben & Jerry’s Senior Global […] ameliatraynor | April 17, 2015 0 Comments
Crystal Mountain Conditions Report | Return of Winter? Something strange happened this past week in Washington. It snowed. Sure, the accumulation only stacked up to 6 inches, but after weeks of high pressure any snow is welcome. Snow is snow, you can tell because of the way it is (and sticks in the trees). It didn’t rain, it snowed, and that’s all that matters. Luckily stayed low through the end of the week, so the new snow didn’t immediately […] Conditions Report Chaz Diamond | February 22, 2015 0 Comments
Salomon Quest Max 130 Ski Boot Review The Frenchies behind Salomon have been at the forefront of the ski industry for years. When the ski industry asked for a stiff freeride boot to take on side and backcountry terrain, the makers of the Pocket Rocket and the X-Scream answered the call. The Salomon Quest Max 130 lives up to its two names – it is ready for the backcountry and stiff enough to throw down when the going gets burly. The Quest Max 130 lives up to the Salomon name. The boot combines a performance-oriented last, true 130 flex, walk mode, and swappable tech inserts (ohhhhh yeah) to make an all-mountain beast. The best features of the Quest […] Gear Review Chaz Diamond | February 16, 2015 1 Comment
Ode to Squawโs Final Weekend: One Last Beer from the Keg Many of us have been to parties consisting of a keg, a tall stack of red plastic cups and a couple bowls of potato chips. As the evening comes to an end, the hosts turn down the lights, make a few strategic yawns and subtly suggest that the last guests leave their house. Realizing their efforts are unsuccessful, the hosts give up and go to bed. At this point, there are usually a handful of guys, the โstragglers,โ standing in the dark, right next to the keg, plastic red cups in their hand, pouring each other a final beer or two from the tap. These last stragglers are the most entertaining at the party. The […] Featured Article Guest Author | April 23, 2014 1 Comment

The only problem is that youโll likely never get to drink any of this new beer unless youโre a Patagonia employee or good friend of one. They only made a very small amount of these beers for their anniversary. That said, weโll see what we can do to get our hands on a few sixers of this stuff and give it away at […] SnowBrains | November 18, 2013 2 Comments
Behind The Scenes of the Coors Light Commercials | Thirsty Thursday Regardless your opinion of what constitutes a great beer I think it can be agreed that Coors Light at least knows how to make a solid commercial. One of their most popular commercials to date “Ascent” was filmed in the Chugach Mountains of Southern Alaska outside of the Girdwood and Valdez areas, along with several others. Snowboarding legend Jeremy Jones even took time out of his personal […] Kyler Roush | September 19, 2013 1 Comment
