Ode to the White Ribbon of Death

It’s early season and I’m thinking of the last day of last season. It was sunnier and warmer. The snow was better and there was more of it. It wasn’t this crowded either. Nor did it get dark at 3 o’clock. Not to create the impression that this isn’t fun. It’s fun alright. Skiing will always win out over not skiing. That said, it’s time for some snow and an end to this white ribbon of death as the people like to call it. Utah Backcountry Ski Report: Deep in Country Lane Chute, Little Cottonwood Canyon

The early season here in the Wasatch Mountains of Northern Utah has been STELLAR! The amount of backcountry pow the last month has been dreamy. In addition, Solitude, our first resort of the year is poised to open on the 8th. Things are going great here and now is one of the most exciting times to start picking off big lines. We are typically spoiled with superb access for all backcountry zones in our area so many times we are skinning from the car and skiing to the car.
