Reminiscing the Radness @ Cardrona – New Zealand During a visit in mid-August of 2016, a father and son team had the opportunity to explore the fine terrain at Cardrona ski field. Even with pesky clouds blocking out the sun for the first half of the day, this team was able to enjoy wintery snow in varied terrain. Trip Report Casey Cane | August 4, 2018 1 Comment
Ridiculously Remarkable @ The Remarkables (New Zealand part I) Toward the end of August 2015, a father & son team made the easy journey (if you ride a plane that is) from San Francisco to the Southern Alps of New Zealand. Our plan was to ski the first 4 days between Coronet Peak and The Remarkables and to introduce my son not only to NZ skiing but also to my good olโ kiwi mates. As with any ski trip, all you can do is hope and pray that the planets will align to provide epic skiing conditions. Luckily, for my sonโs first visit, the snow gods granted us superb weather and skiing around the Queenstown area. Casey Cane | November 15, 2015 1 Comment
VIDEO: Temple Basin, NZ Season Highlights “This video follows the MFC boys on a trip to Temple Basin. Riders Charlie Murray, Jamesa Hampton, Nick Pascoe and Craig Murray are captured by Thomas Lloyd. With good snow and great weather they managed to find a few fresh lines. This is mostly filmed in the extensive network of back bowls around the field.” – Charlie Murray Guest Author | October 1, 2015 0 Comments
Entertaining the Variable @ Cardrona Ski Field, New Zealand A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure to visit Cardrona Ski Field for a few days. Cardrona caters to everyone and really does ‘love you.’ From families to park skiers, off piste warriors to sidecountry enthusiasts, they really have a lot to offer. Speaking of the terrain parks, now that Snow Park NZ has shutdown, Cardrona is now THE place to visit during the North American Summer for park skiing With my skiing partner Miles Holden, we couldn’t have had two more different days on this trip. The first day was shut down early for insane weather, and the second day was a mix of every type of light, snow condition and terrain[…] Casey Cane | October 2, 2013 1 Comment
Saturday Session of Succulence @ Harris Mountains Heli-ski NZ – September 14th, 2013 What the best way to spend your last day on a ski vacation? Heli-skiing is crucial to experience the Southern Alps of New Zealand for snow enthusiasts. Access to the interior of the Southern Alps is extremely tough due to their massive stature without any gradual elevation gain from the plains. This is why most of the ski fields are located on the exterior of the range…it is just too difficult to throw in a road and build a resort. Higher elevation, steeper slopes, better snow, longer descents, and incredible vistas are what you […] Featured Video Casey Cane | September 25, 2013 1 Comment
Chuting for Kiwi Spring Slayage @ The Remarkables, NZ September 8th – 12th, 2013 Oh September…the perfect time to sleep on a plane and wake up in New Zealand! Its hard not to love the South Island of New Zealand. Good coffee, friendly people, crystal clear lakes, stunning vistas and of course, the Remarkables. You see, not only does this ski field cater to families but it has some seriously addicting ‘hike to’ terrain […] Casey Cane | September 19, 2013 0 Comments
