Mammoth, CA Report: A Moody, Empty, Creamy, Mini-Powder Day I skied Mammoth Mountain today solo. I rode Chair 23 for an hour without seeing nor hearing another skier or rider. There was 2-4″ of new, wet snow on top of a soft under layer. You could go fast. You could speed check. The skiing was damn good. The ski day began with cloud and sun. The ski day ended completely socked in and snowing. At 1:04pm, thunder began to clap loudly to the north. It got closer every run. At 1:18pm, they closed the mountain. The thunderstorm was approaching. Since closing, it hasn’t stopped snowing. […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | May 21, 2015 5 Comments
Mammoth, CA Conditions Report: An Adaquate 1″ Powder Day Mammoth ski resort in California experienced a vicious 1″ powder storm last night. When we awoke, we saw that there was only 1″ of new snow and we decided to wait and show up at 11am once things had softened up a bit. When we got to the hill, we could see fresh tracks coming down from Chair 23 and we began to ponder: “could this be a horribly good 1″ powder day?” In fact, it was. Once up on 23, we found the skiing buttery with blown in snow and a chalky base. As of 11:30am, the […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | May 18, 2015 1 Comment
Mammoth, CA Conditions Report: 5″ Powder Day Today Mammoth ski resort in California got 5″ of snow yesterday during the day. It stopped snowing in the afternoon, but Chair 23 wasn’t open yesterday and we high hopes. The Squaw crew ended up on the 1st chair on Chair 23 and we weren’t quite sure what to expect. You could tell that there was likely some reef under the new 5″ of snow, but we hoped that we’d stay off the reef beneath. Once the chair opened around 8:15am, We charged down and […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | May 15, 2015 7 Comments
VIDEO: Big Powder Day at CLOSED Mt. Baker, WA on Tuesday Mt. Baker ski resort closed last week due to a lack of snow. Then, the area got a snowstorm that wasn’t quite enough to get the ski resort open again, but enough to stoke out a few hard charging locals. The boys from the Glacier Ski Shop got up to very near the Mt. Baker ski resort on March 16th, 2015 and had a helluva day. Blue skies, perfect, stable snow, and fun terrain. No matter where you are in the US of A, this video should make you a bit jealous. These guys had Baker all to […] SnowBrains | March 19, 2015 1 Comment
Bariloche, Argentina Backcountry Report: “Secret Chute” It will not stop snowing in Bariloche, Argentina. Today the storm came in with so much wind it shut down nearly the entire mountain at about 1pm. The wind up high was blowing a constant 40mph, which made walking on the ridge lines a very interesting endeavor. Catedral ski resort impressively got the highest chair, Nubes open by about 11am after the whole mountain opened late at about 10am due to the strong winds. Nubes had amazingly smooth, wind-buffed snow, about 4-6 inches deep, […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | September 29, 2014 0 Comments
Bariloche, Argentina Conditions Report: Bluebird Powder Day First of all, I wanna give big props for Catedral ski resort opening the Nubes chair today. Itโs been closed for about a week (essentially for the season) due to the trails accessing it having completely burned out. There was simply no snow left on the trails accessing the base of the Nubes chair. The recent storm dropped enough snow for the trails to be covered and groomed once more. Catedral was great and opened Nubes right away this morning by 10am. Thanks. Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina just experienced two days of big, late season snowfall. The storm completely closed the mountain down on Tuesday, we had a great […] Miles Clark | September 25, 2014 0 Comments

VIDEO: Heli Skiing From a Chairlift @ Las Lenas, Argentina… This is a video of skiing on the big epic pow day of September 4th, 2014. It shows some of the lines where I have been trying to improve my skiing by chilling with the Catalans, mostly adri Millan. But also Txema trull, Alejo Sanchez, and Mike Hamilton were there on this amazing day. It shows a bunch of runs on cerro fosiles, accessed by a chairlift. And this video should help give you some insight into why I love it here in Argentina so much, because things like this are fun. Thanks to all the friends […] Guest Author | September 19, 2014 0 Comments
