1 Minute of Face Shots: Video Proof of Snow in Tahoe It has been far too long since skiers in Tahoe have had the pleasure of a genuine powder face shot, but after this weekend’s storm skiers all across the basin were able to get in deep and remember the feeling. The video above chronicles some of the goods that were to be found on Mt. Rose Saturday morning and Squaw Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Seeing snow coating the trees in town once again simple feels right, now if only Miracle March will deliver and keep bringing the snow! Featured Video SnowBrains | March 2, 2015 0 Comments
Helicoptering the Hippy Pow @ Silverton Mountain I’ve been visiting Silverton almost yearly since they loaded their first guest on the infamous double chair that summits at 12,300ft. Why? First of all, they almost always receive early snowfall, so skiing in December can be quite good. Secondly, the terrain, views and consistent pitch to the valley floor is hard to beat when compared to other resorts in Colorado. I’ve done guided, unguided and of […] Conditions Report Casey Cane | March 1, 2015 1 Comment
Tahoe Storm Delivers, 2+ Feet of SNOW for Squaw! Photo Tour: For the first time this year, Tahoe caught a break and received double the amount of snow forecasted over the weekend. With easily two feet of snow on the upper mountain, the skiing as well as the vibe came alive at Squaw. Snow fell most of Saturday and Sunday brought intermittent clouds and deep snow. As to be expected, the masses were out and hungry for pow but the lines (save Granite Chief on Sunday), remained manageable. On Saturday the only things to open on the upper mountain were Siberia and Shirley (as well as the beginner terrain) […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | March 1, 2015 0 Comments
Alta Conditions Report – 11″ Teaser with More to Come There’s no denying that it has been dry in Alta for much of January and February, but winter has finally returned! Last Friday into Saturday we received 3 inches followed by a surprise 11 inches! This storm skied great for the weekend. The crowds were a bit bad in the mornings but settled by the afternoons. Following the storm we had a few more days of sun a warm. All of the locals got out and enjoyed the stable backcountry conditions, putting more tracks on some of the favorite roadside attractions than I have ever seen. Chamonix Conditions Report: Powder Returns! The season has been off to a pretty slow start in Chamonix, but things are starting to look up. A couple small systems over the last few days have each left 10-15cm of fresh snow and refreshed surfaces nicely. The sun came out Monday and the winds died down letting us get out and explore away from the lifts, reminding everyone how magical this valley is. Monday morning, the Aiguilles Rouges on the North West side of the valley were loaded with groups heading out to get some fresh turns before things warmed up ahead of the next small system, and brutal winds kicked in.
