Telluride Conditions Report: Big Base, Steep lines, and Blue Bird skies. Telluride is quite the gem in the buffet of ski resorts that Colorado has to offer. I have skied all over the Centennial State and can truly say as far as resorts go Telluride is truly unique, special and offers something for everyone. Somewhat off the beaten path, being the closest airports are Montrose or Durango thus preserving the goods for those who happen to live there or are visiting when the skies bless the area with snow. Fishing for the Fabulous @ Telluride Given that the Lake Tahoe region continues to struggle for snowfall, this family decided to head back out to our โgo toโ area, Telluride, for good olโ family ski fun. With six days of skiing planned, we had time to explore, ski with the kids, not ski with kids, long lunches in the sun, ski school drop off, ski school pick ups, short hikes up to Dihedral face… Conditions Report Casey Cane | February 28, 2015 0 Comments
Turning up the Base @ Telluride Given the current skiing status around the greater Lake Tahoe area, a quick decision was made to skip town and head to Telluride to find some snow over the Martin Luther King holiday. I have been frequenting Telluride almost yearly since 1998 and whether Winter or Summer, it is definitely a place that the whole family can enjoy…even for a stubborn father looking for some steeper turns[…] Conditions Report Casey Cane | January 25, 2015 1 Comment
Telluride, CO Conditions Report Video: Summer Corn Harvest A Telluride crew went out this week and got in some quality summer skiing at Telluride ski resort in Colorado. Conditions were approximately what you’d expect this time of year. We aren’t from Telluride, but it looks like they still have a ton of snow down there considering it’s nearly August. This edit is straightforward enough. If it wasn’t for the cheesy tunes, you might not even realize that Telluride ski resort made the video. “It’s the middle of the summer, and all we can think […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | July 24, 2014 0 Comments

Tasting the Topography @ Telluride – 02/15/14 Yes, another Tahoe exodus for five days to find winter…of course, by the time of departure, the higher elevations of Tahoe received 8 feet of snow (Kirkwood) but ski trips get booked and you deal with it. So, off we went from SFO to Denver to Montrose with my 2 year old and buddy Dan to shred. Telluride is known for its funky town, box canyon vistas, Chair 9 bumps, steep piste, and a superb Ski School for the youngsters. But over the years, they’ve added some gnarly hike-to terrain into the mix. Of course, hiking to Palmyra Peak is the pinnacle of this in-bounds adventure but there’s also shorter hikes, to the left and right […] Conditions Report Casey Cane | February 24, 2014 1 Comment

Telluride, CO = Pot Paradise? Telluride, Colorado is a paradise by any standard. Unreal skiing, great ice climbing, stunning scenery, good people, clean air, and legal marijuana. Starting this month, you’ll be able to buy marijuana for recreational use in Colorado and Telluride is leading the ski town charge. Telluride (population 2,300) has 4 marijuana dispensaries with all of them downtown. Other ski towns aren’t quite so into it. Some of them banned marijuana […] SnowBrains | January 7, 2014 0 Comments
