Report from April 30 & May 1, 2023
The Teton Mountains still hold heaps of snow, and skiing or snowboarding is straight-up delightful.
Soft corn. Bright sun. Zero wind. And darn good times.
The recent clear spell has been a bit of a rarity. The Mtn. West winter, currently wrapping-up, has been a bumper season of in-your-face snow and elusive sunshine–so this heavy dose of Vitamin D feels a bit like a drug.
And the spring snow underfoot feels like a little slice of heaven.
Tours to the ridge line are a breeze thanks to these calm, warm conditions.
Snowpack is only ever-so-slightly variable, with a more compact super-surface at high altitude that quickly softens into fantastic, smooth corn kernels from mid-elevations downward.
As always, cautious terrain assessment is advised, as it takes time to take it all in.
Enjoy!
