Beautifully crafted and elegantly impactful, “The Mountain Doesn’t Care” is a tidy 90-second featurette highlighting the incredible beauty, gnarly challenge, and certain magic we seek to find when we enter the mountains. The immersive film might make Nivis Gear a new household name in ski apparel. And make no mistake, the campaign is gaining traction.
Athletes, filmers, and industry leaders know Nivis as a roots firm with a big heart for snow culture.
“Nivis is all about care in the details,” said company founder Carter Ramos. “Provided we get that first part right, the rest will work itself out.”
Stepping to the winter stage with a gripping film featurette, “ The Mountain Doesn’t Care,” Nivis displays style and subtle grace, two winning aspects that are as welcome to the rider as a fresh alpine breeze.
The idea behind the drop of “The Mountain Doesn’t Care” is a sensible desire that more riders get wise to the inclusive groove going down at Nivis. It is a company that can be trusted to always be down for a powder day or an East Coast night ski in the rain. And what rider can’t relate to that?
“The Mountain Doesn’t Care” is the result of a perfect storm: it married an imaginative spark and upper-echelon technical talent. The end result has the apparel and film worlds buzzing.
Shot at El Colorado in Chile, with the help of local production company La Casa Films, the concept of “The Mountain Doesn’t Care” attracted the undeniable talent of filmmaker Alexander Ryden. Skeptical at first, given the size and unknown of this brand called Nivis, Ryden bought into Nivis’ idea and risked camera gear worth tens of thousands of dollars to help tell the story.
Ryden’s risk of skiing in dark, steep, and variable conditions alongside Nivis’ creative team led by Geoff Castillo paid off as they secured a spot for the film among the content reel of Ad Age, a globally renowned media brand. This lucky crossing of proverbial snowflakes resulted in a bold, standout film, capturing audiences from its first sequence(s).
The final cut is so bloody good that Ryden went public in describing “The Mountain Doesn’t Care” as a personal favorite in his portfolio and shared an in-depth behind-the-scenes look on his Instagram.
Nivis Gear is all-in for creativity and building relationships, with a keen motivation to push the apparel envelope.
“Nivis is here to keep you skiing longer,” Carter said. “Simple as that.”
Founder Carter cut his teeth selling soft gear out of his truck while still finishing high school nearly 10 years ago. Now, in 2025, his company aims to elevate Nivis to the next level as an outdoor apparel line for skiing or snowboarding.
Nivis’ offerings are US-designed, some assembled in the U.S., too. Their stable includes the “Protego” collection, an a mix of of insulated and radical tech shells, including a “one-jacket 100 uses” daily driver known simply as “Tendo,” and an always lovable puffer whose moniker is literally “Everyday.” Each shines uniquely, all launch straight from the core of skiing, and “The Mountain Doesn’t Care” is a cinematic symphony to represent the lot. They tell a simple story: The mountain doesn’t care, and it’s cold out there, so you better wear Nivis.
Carter and the crew at Nivis couldn’t be more amped about the future. “We’re boutique outdoor apparel made exceptionally well.”
“Nivis is putting in the work and keeping our values true to Mountain Community.”
