Thredbo resort in Australia announced on Monday that Sunday will be the last day of this year’s season––they will be closing early due to ongoing covid-19 restrictions affecting the number of people able to visit the resort. The resort usually closes the first week in October.

And that’s a wrap! Due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions affecting the number of guests who are able to visit the resort, this Sunday 26 September will be the final day of our 2021 winter season. From Monday 27 September, the Kosciuszko Express will continue to operate for backcountry and scenic ride access.

For those who are able to visit us, with this week’s top-up of fresh snow, be sure to get up here this week for your final turns of the season!

We thank all of our guests, staff and community for supporting us during winter 2021 and look forward to welcoming guests back to the mountains for the start of our summer MTB and hiking seasons from 20 November 2021.

Lockdowns and restrictions have plagued the ski season in both Australia and New Zealand during a year when the weather has delivered. The snowpack in the mountains around Thredbo is the deepest it’s been in over 20-years.
