Tioga Pass, the major route through Yosemite National Park, California, is now closed for the season. Caltrans anounced on social media channels that it had received notice from National Park Services of the seasonal winter closure. The closure of Tioga Pass, also known has Highway 120, came into effect on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
Tioga Road closes each year from sometime in November through to late May, or even early June, depending on snow conditions. Tioga Road didnโt fully open this year until July 22.
According to National Park Services, the road closure extends from the Tuolumne Grove, just east of Crane Flat, to Tioga Pass Entrance Station.
When the Tioga Road is closed, it is not possible to drive to Tuolumne Meadows or enter Yosemite National Park from the east. All other park entrances, including those along Highway 120 from the west, Hetch Hetchy, Highway 140, and Highway 41, remain open all year.
