Squaw Valley Academy and Travis Ganong are proud to announce the recipient of the 2018-19 Travis Ganong Scholarship: Tatiana Tobolka! Tobolka hails from Prague in the Czech Republic, where she is a member of the Czech National Team and has been named the U14 Overall Czech Alpine Skiing Champion.

Travis Ganong, born in Truckee, CA, competed on the Squaw Valley Ski Team until he was brought on to the US Ski Team at 16 years old. Specializing in downhill and super-G, Ganong began his World Cup career in 2010 and competed in the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Ganong has a passion for ski racing and big mountain skiing. Squaw Valley Academy, a college-preparatory boarding school with a strong focus on all things skiing, recently named Ganong as their Director of Snowsports due to his contributions to the sport and value of academics.

The Travis Ganong Scholarship is a merit-based award given annually to one student-athlete entering grade 9 or 10. The chosen student will embody Ganong’s drive and love for academics and ski racing.  The scholarship provides full or half tuition to the student until graduation. Squaw Valley Academy and Travis Ganong collaborate to choose the scholarship recipient, this year choosing Tatiana Tobolka.

There is no question that ski racing requires determination, grit, patience, and a love for the sport, and this scholarship makes it possible for students that demonstrate these characteristics to continue developing their passion and ability in ski racing.
