Today at Treble Cone was the best skiing dayย that we’ve had in New Zealand so far. For the first half of the day, we just had Home Basin with some longish lines, but the top half was skiing quite well. The bottom part of Home Basin was a bit punchy and thin, so it was best to take the groomer back. For this early in the season, no complaints!
A little before lunch, they got the Saddle Basin open. The coverage was better up top, but visibility started going as the clouds rolled in. The snow was variable with everything from wind buffed, to wind loaded, to wind scoured. I guess there was some wind overnight! Overall a fun day where we got to ski fast and jump off stuff.
It looks like there’s another foot of snow on the way this week, so there could be some really nice ski days later in the week.
