Tremblant in Quebec, Canada, has announced a slight delay to the start of its 2024-25 ski season. Originally slated to kick off on November 22, the resort has postponed opening day to November 28 due to unseasonably warm temperatures hampering snowmaking efforts.
“Although everything indicated normal progression towards a season opening scheduled for November 22, temperatures over the past few days have remained above the minimum snowmaking threshold. As a result, snowmaking windows have been few and far between, and although we are eager, as much as you, to get the 2024-25 season underway, weโre forced to postpone the opening of the mountain.”

The decision will disappoint eager skiers and snowboarders counting the days to hit the slopes. However, resort officials assure that the extra time will be put to good use, with increased preparations both on and off the mountain.
The recent warm spell has left the resort with limited snowmaking windows, which are crucial for establishing a solid base. Tremblant has ramped up its snowmaking capabilities to combat this, installing additional snow guns on the lower Nansen trail. This strategic move ensures comprehensive coverage while maintaining efforts across other mountain areas.
“But donโt worry, the wait wonโt be long! The opening of the ski season has been postponed for just a few days to Thursday, November 28, 2024. Colder temperatures are expected for several nights to come this week and the next. We are also taking this opportunity to intensify our preparation on the mountain and among our various teams. Additional snowguns have been installed in the lower Nansen trail, to cover that section wth snow as soon as possible, while maintaining efforts in other areas simultaneously.”

The forecast offers a glimmer of hope. Colder temperatures are expected to settle in over the coming nights, providing the perfect conditions for snowmaking.
Despite the setback, Tremblant is determined to make the delayed opening a celebration to remember. The resort has announced plans for its annual red carpet event, set to take place at 8 a.m. on November 28 at the base of the gondola.
As the countdown to opening day begins, the Tremblant team remains committed to delivering the top-notch ski experience that visitors have come to expect. They’re confident the wait will be well worth it with a few extra days of preparation under their belts.
