UDOT closed Big Cottonwood Cayon (SR 190 – Solitude & Brighton highway) due to “extreme congestion causing public safety iussues” today at 10am MT.
The extreme congestion was likely due to neighboring Little Cottonwood Canyon (SR 210 – Alta & Snowbird highway) being closed today until noon (210 has been closed past 2-days as well due to avalanche danger).
It must have been pretty nuts in Big Cottonwood Canyon today for them to close it…
UDOT just reopened Big Cottonwood Canyon at 12:45pm MT.
