A man caught this massive avalanche on camera last week while hiking in Mount Rainier National Park, WA.

According to the NWAC the avalanche was caused by an ice ball released from a glacier. Avalanches of this size are rare at this time of year.

Two weeks ago, eleven hikers were killed in Italy when a melting glacier triggered a massive avalanche. Last week, hikers in Kyrgyzstan were lucky to survive a huge avalanche that barreled right over them.
