“Itโs all just training for this season eh, and in preparation, I thought it worthy to share a special descent from around here. Last March I found myself called back to ski Copper’s majestic NE face. Having ridden it several times, I was keen to really flow it, especially after my last failed attempt. Ignoring the signs, four turns in I got stuck on cliffs when the snow turned to hollow sugar on rock. Thankfully, I had a mountain sister running safety, who threw down a rope so I could climb my humble ass back out. This time was gonna be different. With a typical coastal snowpack plastering the steeps, I knew it was ready to go. To bolster my confidence further, the day before we tested the same aspect on little couloir right next door. It was still trickier than I reckoned for. Iโm going back, hopefully in a few months. Obsessed.” – Michael Bird Shaffer
