Saturday, May 21st- Arapahoe Basin, Colorado. At the crack of 10 in the morning, all the local, lazy skiers and riders made their way to A-basin for some quality spring skiing. This wasn’t just your average Saturday. It was America’s attempt to beat the Russians world record for number of skiers in bikinis and bathing suits.
Unfortunately, the Russians still hold the record with 1000 participants, meanwhile the Basin’s had 585 (registered!). The event was loosely organized, but the turnout and the vibes were truly amazing. Although Colorado doesn’t have an ocean, we sure do have the beach! If you need a place to relax, grab a beer, watch some skiers catch some swells, get a goggle burn, play with puppies, and eyeball some bikinis- head on up to A-bay, there is still two weeks of prime beach season in order!
This brings us to the next question…How much longer will Arapahoe Basin be open? Word on the street is that A-bay’s lifts should be turning til at least June 5th, so get out there and have a blast!
