Switzerlandโs Corinne Suter has shared a brutally honest video of the realities of dealing with rehab. The Swiss skier had injured her knee on Friday, January 26, after the same jump that saw Mikaela Shiffrin fly into the nets at Cortina dโAmpezzo. About 10 minutes after Shiffrinโs shocking crash during the Downhill race, Suter landed hard after the Delta jump and instantly screamed in pain, grabbing her left knee.

The Swiss Ski Association later confirmed that Suter had torn her ACL and injured her meniscus. ACL is short for the Anterior Cruciate Ligament, which connects the upper leg bone or femur with the shin bone. It is located in the middle of the knee and is the central stabilizing ligament of the knee. The meniscus is a C-shaped piece of cartilage in your knee that acts as a shock absorber between the shinbone and the thighbone. A full recovery for this type of injury is typically around nine months.
The video gives a gut-wrenching insight into the pain and frustration the 29-year-old skier is going through and the determination and grit that keeps her going.
ACL tears are a true bummer, and a lot of us (ski racers) have been there. I wish her a full recovery. It won’t be speedy. It takes time for the graft to grow bone to bone in order to be strong. It tests one’s patience…….
