Taos Ski Valley, NM, has been closed since Sunday, April 2, 2023, due to ongoing municipal water distribution system repairs. The resort first became aware of the problem on Saturday and had hoped to be able to fix this issue quickly. However, the antiquated pipes are leaking, meaning the resort doesnโt have enough water pressure to safely operate critical guest facilities such as bathrooms and food service.
Taos will not open Tuesday, April 4, 2023.ย Guest should monitor the resortโs website for updates for tomorrow. All aspects of the resort mountain operation are closed. This includes lifts, ski school, Taos Sports rentals & retail, restaurants, and most locally-owned shops in the village. Staff will be on-site at the Lake Fork Ticket Office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the Snakedance Snowsports Office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Rentals and Lost & Found will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as well.
The resort is hoping to reopen as soon as feasible. Taos Ski Valley has contributed over $1.5M in funding to assist the village in upgrading the antiquated system. The State of New Mexico has also provided $2.5M in funding, so hopefully, this can be resolved soon.
Taos Ski Valley is scheduled to close on April 9, 2023. There will be no refund for season pass holders as the resort is usually closed by now and has operated for over 125 days this season. Operators have every intention, however, to reopen, and reservations for the Blake, lift tickets, and rentals for April 5-9 are still being taken.
