Whistler Blackcomb, in British Columbia, Canada, announced that it wouldn’t be extending its lift hours beyond 3 p.m. for the rest of the 2020-21 season.ย The resort stated the lifts would stop at 3 p.m. instead of extending to 3:30 and eventually 4 p.m. as the season continues into spring.
The decision is due to the response to the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on capacity restrictions and normal operations.ย This decision allows the resort to remain open, which was their main goal at the start of the season.
The resort stated that it will attempt to run lifts before its official 8:30 a.m opening time to allow guests to maximize their time on the mountain.ย They did note that guests should expect longer operating hours in the seasons to come. This current situation is only short-term, and returning to normal operations is in the near future.
