With high temps on Sunday and a few rain drops Monday and Tuesday, the skiing has finally gotten to the point where it is soft enough to start venturing off piste again at Squaw Valley.ย On the upper mountain we only had Siberia, Shirley, Gold Coast the beginner area to play on today, but the skiing off Shirley Bowl and some of the airs to be found were quite fun.ย The video above shows how coverage is currently holding up at Squaw.
The video shows, in order, Shirley Bowl, the Big Blue half pipe jump, Early Shirley (the first Shirley Chute), and Dog Leg into Red Dog Face. The skiing was really fun today, with soft snow to be found on all the Shirley groomers, a relatively soft Siberia Ridge, and a soft (and sticky at the bottom) Red Dog Face.
We are all crossing our fingers that snow levels stay low enough to come out of this weekend’s storm in the positive.
Doesn’t get much deeper than that.
‘White noise’ is so true.
Reading a report on Shirley Lake conditions in a season like this is like listening to Marshawn Lynch address reporters during media day during super bowl week.
Love the backflip…
